Bempton Bird Sanctuary [web site]

puffin bempton cliffsThe famous RSPB sanctuary at Bempton is only a few minutes drive away. It regularly attracts many visitors from around the world .

The spectacular white cliffs are home to almost a quarter of a million seabirds and the RSPB reserve at Bempton is easily the best place to experience this natural wonder.

A short walk from the purpose-built Visitor Centre takes you to a number of specially-created cliff top viewpoints, where the massed ranks of gannets, guillemots and kittiwakes can be seen (and smelled!). Close to the top of the cliff, you might also see colourful puffins

north landingDuring the summer season half hour sight seeing cruises are available which visit other famous caves around Flamborough and also provide superb opportunities for sea bird viewing. No booking is required for these - just turn up. Fishing trips are also available (weather permitting) and leave daily between 1pm and 4pm. The local fishing grounds are right on the doorstep.

Flamborough Head Golf Club [web site]

bempton cliffsFounded in 1931 this warm and friendly club perched high on the cliff tops overlooking the North Sea is the ideal place to enjoy your golf. Recently extended the course is now a 6189 yards par 71 test for any level of golfer to enjoy.

The cliffs which drop steeply from the boundaries of the course are home to a large variety of sea birds, including the colourful and comical puffin. The lucky visitor may also see seals basking in the sea below the cliffs. Apart from the breath-taking sea views and passing fishing boats, golfers are often treated to spectacular air displays by Tornado jets using the coastline for training purposes.
